These bloody finger hot dogs for Halloween are so gross and yet so amazing, all at the same time! If you’re having a Halloween party, you have to make these, they are so simple to make and they will be a gross party hit for sure!

Ok, this might be my most terrifying Halloween recipe ever … and I LOVE it!

They take “finger food” to a new extreme!

They’re actually pretty quick and easy to make! You only need about 20 minutes and four ingredients to make these Bloody Severed Finger Hot Dogs.

Ingredients for Bloody Finger Halloween Hot Dogs:

  • hot dogs
  • water
  • hot dog buns
  • ketchup

They make a fairly inexpensive Halloween dinner for a party or you can make them for the kids before trick-or-treating!

I don’t think you really need a formal recipe, but I’m going to include the recipe along with my tips and tricks for cutting the knuckles and nails in a printable recipe at the bottom of this post so you can print it out if needed.

How to Make Bloody Finger Hot Dogs for Halloween

To make these Bloody Finger Halloween Hot Dogs, start a large pot of water boiling on the stove.

Next, make the fingernails and knuckles.

To make the fingernail, slice the two sides of the fingernail, then straight across the top. Then make a slight curved slice for the bottom nail bed. Next, take your knife and carefully slice the thin “fingernail” piece off the top. See the below for sizing to see how big you want to make your nail.

You can see that the one on the left (the first one I cut) was too small. I wanted it to look more realistic, so I cut the next one a bit bigger and it was perfect!

Next, make the knuckles. Start with making one slit along the middle of the hot dog with two crescent slits directly above and below. Then halfway between the knuckle and the new nail, make two crescent slits. Add two more crescent shaped slits at the very bottom.

Next, boil the hot dogs in the boiling water for 4-5 minutes.

Then place each “finger” into a hot dog bun loaded with ketchup – be sure to smear some ketchup on the bottom of each “severed finger” and more at the top of the bun.

If you want, you can add a thinly sliced square piece of white onion for the actual “nail,” but it’s a bit of extra work that I didn’t think was really needed.

If you’re making these for a large family or Halloween party, I highly recommend using a larger stockpot so you can boil several hot dogs at the same time!

These Bloody Severed Finger Hot Dogs take "finger food" to an extreme and will be perfect for your Halloween party or before trick-or-treating!

Instructions

  1. Start a large pot of water boiling on the stove.

Below is the photo again so you can see how large to make the nail. The one on the left was the first “nail” I cut and I didn’t think it was big enough to be realistic, so I went a little bigger like the one on the right. I think this is the key to making them look realistic.
