What Jessie James Decker Really Eats In A Day (2024)

Catching Britney Spears's Las Vegas show with her squad, hosting the ACM Awards red carpet, plus lending her star power to the launch of Lima-a-Rita's new summer flavors and EmojiYourPeach.com microsite at Lime-A-Rita Land … judging by her schedule you'd think Jessie James Decker has no time for maintaining her killer bod. But that's simply not true. We caught up with the country singer to find out how, as a mom of two toddlers, she stays in shape while "doing it all." It turns out, she's just as relatable as she seems on Instagram, and her routine is totally do-able.

1. She starts her day with the same drink every morning.

"I have to have coffee every morning, because I have little ones," Decker says, referring to Vivianne (3) and Eric Jr. (1). "Eric makes the coffee, which is nice because it's always ready for me right when I wake up." For those who don't know, that's NFL running back Eric Decker who currently plays for the New York Jets. According to his wife, who says she's not really a morning person and "needs a minute" before starting her day, he handles breakfast.

"In the morning I usually sit with the kids at the table while they eat yogurt and fruit - our kids love yogurt with fruit - and Eric is usually making breakfast, like turkey bacon."

With her coffee Decker says she usually has a piece of whole-wheat toast with butter, though sometimes she'll grab some of the turkey bacon Eric cooks and put together a breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs and Louisiana Hot Sauce.

2. She eats what she wants, but doesn't go overboard.

For lunch and dinner, Decker sticks to her favorite healthy staples, like chicken and salad for lunch, or turkey chili for dinner. Though, one look at her Instagram and you'll notice that she's not afraid of carbs. So how does she whip up pasta for her family and still have super-toned legs?

"I'm not really restrictive with what I eat, I just really pay attention to portion sizes - I think that's the most important thing," she explains. Though, if there were no rules and nothing she ate could affect her body, Decker says she'd go all in on a giant bread roll with cinnamon butter served at Tommy Bahamas.

3. She relies heavily on olive oil.

Before you go thinking that "eating whatever she wants" means this country crooner is stopping at fast food chains or going out to eat on the regular, hold up. Decker cooks almost everything she eats. And as a cook, she's all about keeping it real … as in real, whole ingredients.

"I keep the kitchen stocked with fresh food," she says. Olive oil, is one of her go-tos. "I use it for everything-I don't use canola oil or anything like that." She also stays away from low-calorie sweeteners, which tend to have chemicals that aren't so good for you, and those popular fruit and veggies juices that most celebs swear by. "Juice usually has a lot of sugar in it," she notes.

4. She keeps it simple when she's not at home.

But like I mentioned, Decker isn't always at home. In fact, she's frequently on the go, especially these days as she's promoting her latest EP Gold and the new spring pieces of her Kittenish clothing line. So naturally, we had to ask, what do you eat when you can't really cook?

"I'll literally make a sandwich," she says. "I'll just throw together ham and cheese, maybe some avocado. When we were at our house in Florida for a week I literally ate that for lunch every day."

Besides going back to basics with a sandwich, Decker says she'll snack on her favorite South Beach Diet bars, or some hummus and pita.

5. She works out everywhere - except the gym.

Now, she didn't get her body into such great shape just by watching her portion sizes and using wholesome ingredients. If you're a fan of Decker's, you may have seen the YouTube video she posted back in August, showing fans exactly what she does for her daily dose of exercise.

She says she still sticks to that routine and those simple moves, but her secret is fitting in mini workouts whenever she can. "Even when I don't have workout clothes on, I'll do it. Sometimes I'll be like 'Okay I have enchiladas in the oven, that's going to take 20 minutes, I'm going to do 150 lunges right here in the kitchen - and I do it."

Actually, she'd probably workout in the kitchen over a gym anytime. "I hate going to the gym, it feels like everyone is staying at you," she says. Preach.

6. She stays true to her roots.

So, back to what we were saying, about how Jessie James Decker isn't on some insane smoothie-only diet, or super restrictive about what she eats, cutting out entire food groups. We swear, she really is just like you. And she has a favorite type of food, too.

"Cajun!" she says without hesitation. Having spent a significant amount of her childhood growing up in Louisiana, this is an easy choice for Decker.

Now if only we could get invited over for some homemade crawfish and gumbo …
